Games

I have experience as a Game Designer in indie studios, and have an array of skills suited to game development. Throughout projects I have been in charge of gamedesign, UI/UX design, 3D modelling, writing lore and design documents in both French and English.

I’ve designed games from the ground up but also joined teams mid development, working around the tech already in place. I’m used to working in teams and adapting to different workflows.

Balancing around fluctuating, real world currencies.

I joined the Kugle team about a year in the game’s development. While many features were already in place, they needed to be balanced and tied together as a whole.

Using crypto as means to fund the game. Balancing values took on a whole new dimension. A lot of the design work had fit within the constraints of using blockchain, which proved to be a very unique challenge.

I took the opportunity to further my modelling skills by working with the 3D team, a very pleasant task as the game’s friendly aesthetic are very inspiring.
My 3D printing experience came in handy to craft figurines by modifying the game’s assets.

Raising awareness by turning nature’s traits into game mechanics, such was the goal of Our Land

Amongst the growing concerns of our planet’s health, making a game to elevate people’s understanding of nature was a passion project. The goal was for the player to be able to apply the game’s problem solving in his garden. As such, all the mechanics are derived from real interactions in various ecosystems.

In nature, everything tends to balance itself. Having to keep elements slightly off balance for the player to have agency while remaining true to source was fascinating.

Having studied and practised permaculture for years, turning my skills and understanding of nature into game mechanics was a fun challenge. It was also an occasion to study ecosystems I was not familiar with, such as mangrove, deserts…

A puzzle game with one simple rule

I’ve always enjoyed games derived from Go, be it abalone, othello or even checkers. There’s a certain appeal to the visual simplicity, and being to gauge the game state without having to apply to complex layer of rules.

Flippin’ Dots is a small, solo jam game with the imposed rule of no fancy graphics. Made to improve my programming skills and experiment with the Godot engine.
